Eight Boko Haram terrorists have been killed by troops of the Nigerian Army, in Miyanti Darel area of the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
It was learnt that five of the terrorists were killed by the troops of Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole, during a patrol on Monday.
It was gathered that the troops deployed in Miyanti, after killing the terrorists, recovered weapons, machetes, knives and a sum of N5,500.
Also, the troops of 202 Battalion, Sector 1, in the Sabsawa area also ambushed Boko Haram terrorists, killing three of them. The troops recovered AK-47 rifles from the insurgents as well as equipment used for making Improvised Explosive Devices.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, confirmed the recovery, noting that the operations would continue.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force said it also bombed a large gathering of Boko Haram terrorists in the Bogumeri area of Borno State.
A NAF platform, while on a routine Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance mission, had previously discovered the large gathering of the terrorists in the area.
The Director, Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, said the NAF fighter jet was detailed to carry out air interdiction on the target in quick succession.
“The Alpha Jet fighter aircraft attacked the target with bombs, killing the insurgents and setting some structures ablaze. Meanwhile, in a separate attack on Gobara, the air force discovered the terrorists in a building that was apparently being used as a hideout. The subsequent air strike resulted in the immediate destruction of the target building, killing the terrorists.”
