Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has been declared the first member of the 12th Parliament, barely 33 days to the actual general elections.
This was after he was named as the only candidate for the August poll in the constituency as he was unopposed for the seat. The IEBC listed him an early winner in a Gazette notice on Tuesday July 4, in which another 14,523 candidates were cleared to participate in the poll.
A fierce defender of the Uhuru regime, the youthful MP won in the Jubilee nominations with a landslide victory, with none else vying for the seat as an independent candidate.
The MP was elected in 2013 on a TNA party ticket and has proved himself to be a strong defender of the Jubilee regime in his several TV appearances.
He celebrated the early win in a Facebook update pledging to serve the residents in a better way.
He wrote: “All Glory and Honour to the Almighty Lord.I feel Blessed of the Lord and honoured by you all. To you my people, I will serve you with honour, dedication and renewed vigor, For in serving you faithfully , I serve my God and fulfill his wish and purpose of my life. God’s Blessings to you all.
God Bless Kenya.” Kimani is a member of the Powers and Privileges Committee (PPC) and the departmental committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives in the current parliament.
